Hamden- The James Vick Foundation is pleased to announce that Blake Gatison is the new coach of the JVF Spartans! After meeting with JVF Brass earlier tonight, Blake will become the first ever skipper for the James Vick Foundation boys lacrosse program, leading the ball club into a summer of competition!
As a former Division 1 Men's Lacrosse player, the Jacksonville Lax alum has long been a supporter of the James Vick Foundation Inc, and will now step into an important role for the organization.
"Blake is a lacrosse savant, a brilliant teacher, and a former player that played at the highest level of the sport, the Spartans players are so lucky to have such a dynamic personality leading them into battle" JVF CEO Christian Vick said in a statement
Following his official appointment, Coach Gatison released a statement to this website. The new Head Coach has a special appreciation for the JVF mission due to his own experiences as a player.
"I'm so excited and thankful to the JVF for the opportunity to give back. Being a former D1 lacrosse player, I truly believe I only achieved that status because of booster clubs and fundraising organizations. They enabled me to play summer ball and be coached by elite coaches.
My hopes for the summer season is that every kid improves, we want to win but the most important thing are the kids who come to the JVF, leave with more knowledge and skill then when they arrived. Me as a player and a coach aspires to improve daily, it is my mission to instill that into the JVF Spartans players.
Coach Gatison is currently filling the Spartans roster, and preparing for tryouts June 11th at CFC Park.
