ree

BETHANY, Conn. — The James Vick Foundation will host a free competitive field hockey clinic on Sunday, July 6, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at CFC Park in Bethany, Connecticut, open to girls ages 12 to 18.

CFC Park is located at 667 Amity Road, Bethany Connecticut.

Designed for middle and high school athletes, the session will feature skill development, live scrimmaging, and conditioning, led by coaches and players from JVF’s nationally competitive Panthers and Dragons teams.

The clinic is open to all athletes, regardless of club affiliation, or school.

A Competitive Opportunity, Open to All

The event is more than a clinic, it's is part of a growing summer initiative funded by donor support and shaped by JVF’s core mission: to make elite, year-round field hockey accessible to talented young athletes in our communities.

“This is a competitive clinic,” said Christian Vick, the JVF Field Hockey Chairman. “We’ll be running a full session—skills work, situational play, scrimmaging, and conditioning. Players should come prepared to compete. But just as importantly, they should come knowing this is a program that believes in opening doors.”

Several members of JVF’s Panthers and Dragons—teams that recently drew national attention with strong performances at the 2025 Yale Series and the USA Field Hockey Regional Club Championships—will be in attendance, training alongside newcomers.

Evaluation for 2026 Scholarship Candidates

In addition to development and play, the James Vick Foundation will also use the July 6th clinic to begin early evaluation of prospective players for its Class of 2026 scholarship cohort.

Each year, the Foundation awards full scholarships covering competitive field hockey participation, tournament play, and leadership development. Selection is based on talent, coachability, work ethic, and community alignment. Players awarded scholarships will engage in national competiton in 2026.

“For some players, this may be the first and only time they’ll be seen by us in person before the fall,” Vick said. “That’s why this clinic matters. It’s open to anyone—but for some, it could also be the first step into something much bigger.”
