Updated: Sep 28

Bethany, Conn. — The James Vick Foundation is proud to announce the next phase of its elite player identification and scholarship process for the 2025–26 field hockey season.

This fall, JVF will host a mandatory tryout on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at CFC Park in Bethany, Conn., opening the door for athletes to earn a place on one of two of the most competitive and mission-driven field hockey programs in the Northeast.

A total of 38 girls will be selected across two teams: the JVF Panthers (U16) and the JVF Dragons (U19). These elite-level squads will train, and compete in high-profile national tournaments, including the 2026 Yale Series Championship and Region 4 RCC Tournament.

Full scholarships will be awarded on December 1, 2025.

Why This Tryout Matters

This tryout is the first and only step toward earning a roster spot and scholarship for the 2025–26 season. All athletes, whether returning or new to JVF, must attend to be considered.

With only 38 total spots available, this on-site evaluation will determine placement based on skill, character, and team fit. For many athletes, this is not just a chance to play, it’s a chance to be seen, developed, and launched onto a national stage.

We will evaluate all athletes, but we do prefer athletes that consider Field Hockey to be their primary sport as the commitment level, and competitive schedule, requires full commitment to the sport, our value system, and the team.

  • Uphold the values of inclusion, discipline, and excellence that define the JVF mission

This opportunity is intended for serious, high-character student-athletes who are ready to compete at the highest levels of club field hockey while being part of a program grounded in access, equity, and community impact.

Community-Powered Opportunity

These scholarships are made possible through the generous support of Liberty Bank, the JVF Annual Fund, and the many individual donors and local partners who believe in expanding opportunity and access through sport. Their commitment allows us to offer high-level training and exposure to players who might otherwise be overlooked, building a program that reflects both excellence and equity.

Tryout Details

Whether you’re a rising player chasing your first big opportunity or a seasoned athlete ready for the next level, the JVF Panthers and Dragons offer more than a place to play—they offer a chance to grow, compete, and be part of something bigger.
