JVF to host #ForElias Sports Festival at CFC Park on August 3rd

Updated: Jul 26

Hamden Connecticut -- The James Vick Foundation is pleased to share that we will be honoring, remembering, and celebrating our departed teammates Elias Hnini with a sports festival at CFC Park in Bethany Connecticut on August 3rd, 2024, from 1pm to 5pm.

In 2022, the world lost one of the greatest human beings of all time in a tragic car accident.

Elias was a son, a brother, a friend to anyone that knew him, he was an amazing teammate, a passionate community member, he loved to go to school, and he loved his friends.

When we lost him in 2022, Mariella Herrmann and Jack Gaffney, alongside hundreds of people in Hamden Connecticut worked through some road blocks in wake of his passing, but were able to pull off a legendary charity game in his honor, as well as a candle light vigil.

Jack and Mariella pulled this off in a span of days, with little time to plan, and it turned out to be one of the most incredible things this organization has ever seen, or will ever see.

In the time that has elapsed since, there has been discussion about how to keep the tradition going, how to honor him every year, and create an opportunity for the community to come together once again.

The #ForElias sports festival will be a party that he would have wanted, competition, fun, love, and people from all walks of life.

In the earlier frame, the JVF Dragons will honor Elias Hnini with a round robin of fun and competitive 7 V 7 field hockey games alongside other club programs in our community.

In the main event, the community of Hamden, led by Mariella Herrmann, alongside friends, family members, former players, and loved ones, will stage a lacrosse game in honor of our departed friend!

The festival will feature food trucks, a bouncy house, live music, and games for humans of all ages.

The JVF will forever host a late summer sports festival in honor of Elias Hnini, it's paramount that his story and his legacy is shared with as many people as possible. Our hope is that everyone in the community can have fun together in his honor, and come together as a big group before school kicks off later in the month.

The JVF is going to be amassing a group of volunteers, including JVF community members to help staff this event. If you are interested in volunteering that day please contact us at info@jamesvickfoundation.org

This is event is free with the option of a donation, however, everyone that plans to attend must register with the event organizers no matter what event or amusement they are participating in, please fill out this registration link!

Upon arrival, we will check all participants in!

We look forward a a big crowd, plenty of tears, competition, great food, and endless laughter! We will see everyone then!
