The 2025 Yale Series Championship set for May 18th at Johnson Field

New Haven, Connecticut – The James Vick Foundation is excited to announce the 2025 Yale Series, sponsored by Liberty Bank!

The 2024 Yale Series was a groundbreaking success that set a new standard for field hockey competition, and we are thrilled to bring it back for 2025!

The 2025 Yale Series Championship will be held at the beautiful Johnson Field on the campus of Yale University.

What’s New in 2025?

This year, we’ve made some exciting changes to the tournament format. The group stage has been revamped into a preliminary round, allowing participating teams to compete at Johnson Field leading up to the main tournament on Sunday, May 18th. The tournament will follow a group-stage/playoff format, stretching across 8 action-packed hours.

Games will be played under USA Field Hockey tournament rules, but with a twist: each game will be 30 minutes long, with two 17-minute halves to maximize field time and make this year’s event even more thrilling than last year. Every team is guaranteed at least two games, and clubs advancing to the later stages will play more.

Key Tournament Details

• Age Group: This is a U-19 tournament. If clubs choose to send a U-16 team, please ensure that team is capable of competing in an older division.

• Rules to Remember:

  • No ties – all tied games will go to sudden-death penalty strokes.

  • Each team can roster up to 22 players for the tournament days, and 24 total players can be rostered to ensure fair play during attendance challenges. This is non-negotiable.

  • There is no fee to compete. However, as with last year, this is a community-based, nonprofit-sponsored tournament. Donations to support the event and make future Yale Series Championships possible will be greatly appreciated.

  • Eligibility: Players over the age of 18, or those competing for a college team, are ineligible to compete.

A Free National Event

The 2025 Yale Series Championship is a free national field hockey event. Athletes will not be required to pay any fees to participate. The mission of this event is to provide access and opportunity for young women, while promoting fair play. We ask everyone to embrace this unique chance to compete in a world-class facility on astroturf—completely free of charge, and for a chance to win a championship!

Registration Information

• Club Directors: If you're interested in having your team compete, please reach out to us. Once approved, you can either register players directly or instruct individual families to register.

• Draw Announcement: The tournament draw will be announced on March 25th, 2025.

• Preliminary Round: The preliminary round will kick off on April 27th, 2025.

• Important Deadline: Teams must be in our system by April 12th, 2025 for insurance purposes.

Any field hockey club in the United States is welcome to apply for this exciting event.
