Y25 dazzles and inspires: Rachel Turer wins MVP

New Haven -- On a clear spring afternoon in New Haven, Connecticut, a collection of the region’s most respected field hockey programs gathered at Yale University for the 2025 Yale Series Tournament Championship, and inspired the community with a spectarcular performance.

Designed to showcase athletic excellence alongside access and inclusion, the tournament drew hundreds of supporters from across the Northeast. At its heart were athletes from different walks of life, competing at a high level on equal footing, with the shared goal of growing the game with integrity.

HTC Captures the 2025 Yale Series Title

In a field defined by depth and parity, HTC Field Hockey Club emerged as the 2025 champion, delivering a performance that was both dominant and poised. The team, guided by longtime Head Coach and Program Director Debra Brickey, executed with clinical discipline, speed in transition, and cohesion in all phases of the game.

Coach Brickey’s leadership was evident throughout the day, not just in HTC’s tactical success, but in how her players carried themselves on and off the field. HTC’s excellence set a high bar, and their title run adds to a growing legacy of sustained, high-character competition.

Rachel Turer (The Taft School / Boston University): Most Valuable Player

In a tournament defined by balance and team-first play, Rachel Turer stood out not just for her skill, but for the way she controlled tempo and created clarity on the field. A midfielder for The Taft School and a Boston University commit, Turer was the stabilizing force in every match she played—reading space, defending with purpose, and initiating attacks with vision and composure.

Her selection as MVP reflects both her talent and her ability to elevate the play around her. She represents the next generation of NCAA athletes grounded in academics, character, and tactical understanding.

All-Tournament Team

The 2025 All-Tournament Team features players who led by example—defending with resolve, attacking with creativity, and competing with dignity. Selections were made based on coach recommendations, game impact, and leadership.

A Broader Purpose

The Yale Series was created not just as a showcase, but as a proof of concept: that elite youth field hockey can thrive in environments anchored by equity, academic alignment, and joy. Athletes from all over Connecticut, West Chester County New York, Worcester County Massachusetts, Long Island, and players from Rhode Island competed with intensity, but also with evident respect for one another.

For the James Vick Foundation, this event affirmed a core belief: that when you remove barriers and trust the athletes, the game itself becomes more beautiful.

To our volunteers, coaches, families, donors, and institutional partners—thank you. To Yale Athletics for hosting this special day. And to each athlete who stepped on the field: you brought the vision to life.

We are so proud of all of you!
